Research Assistant* Associate
The Purpose of the Post
Working as a Research Assistant * Associate in the designing and developing of Grid-based algorithms for stochastic model checking.
Key Responsibilities
Liaising between end users and computer scientists to elucidate the feature requirements of the software to be developed. Carrying out the design and implementation of the required software. Conducting research case studies into the effectiveness of the use of such software in answering specific research questions posed by end users. Disseminating research results through avenues such as the documentation and publication of the developed methods in conferences and journals. This post requires extensive design and programming skills, excellent research skills and capabilities, and a good understanding of stochastic performance modelling techniques.
Job descriptions cannot be exhaustive and the post-holder may be required to undertake other duties, which are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities. Experience
Technical skills: Strong (C*C++*Java) programming skills. Knowledge of Grid-based or parallel*distributed programming. Good mathematical skills. Good research capabilities. Practical experience in developing model checking or performance analysis software. Project management and communication skills: Being part of a large research project, this job requires good project management skills enabling the post holder to meet project deadlines and also good communication skills enabling them to communicate with peers and colleagues effectively. The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree (or equivalent) in computer science or electrical engineering. However strong candidates with an MSc degree are also welcome to apply. Skills*Abilities
